Brain on Autopilot

November 8, 2006 / by clemantine

I spent much of last night being unable to sleep. I've mentioned that I am taking some anti-anxiety pills so that my brain is not allowed to molder there in my skull worrying about global warming or Christmas or what I did with the car keys. So, you want to know what my brain did all night? It wrote poetry.

Given one whole night to come up with its best work, I now unveil the result:

Oh, bury me not on the lone prairie,
But on the beach at Waikiki
Unless the waves go out to sea
And all come back as a tsunami.

You know, I couldn't sleep last night either. I got up at 2 a.m. and wrote political ad copy for 2 hours before I finally got sleepy. I thought I sensed someone else was up at that wonderful hour. It was you. Judging from the poem... the anti-anxiety pill was definitely working. [LOL]

Given the caliber of this nocturnal writing, I suggest you try melatonin.[WINK]
